Riley and Bailey – Foster Home or Adopters Needed!!

These two beautiful cockers are 6 year old brothers. They arrived at an animal shelter so badly matted that they needed to be anesthetized and shaved down. They were covered in thick, hard mats that were so big, they were likely never groomed. Bailey is a beautiful white and cream and Riley is a beautiful black with a patch of white.
Despite the uncomfortable matting, ear infections and cherry eyes, these two boys have happy, sweet personalities!
The shelter manager describes them as “wiggly cuddle boys” who are very glad to see people. They like to be petted and Bailey stood on a visitor’s legs and tried to give kisses.
Riley has a swollen and infected right ear flap and ear canal. He will most likely need ear surgery which we will provide. Both dogs had a cherry eye and were operated on last week.
There is a question as to whether or not they are a bonded pair. They are brothers and have lived together since they were puppies. They are currently kenneled right next to each other at the shelter, and they look for and wait for each other when they are taken out for a walk. Once we have them in our care, we’ll further assess how they do when separated from each other for short periods. If they can be separated, our concern is to find Riley a foster home so we can proceed with getting him to a veterinary surgeon for an evaluation and, most likely, ear surgery.
Riley and Bailey are two very social, people-oriented cockers. They have lived with teenagers but have never been around cats.
