Meet Old Man Withers

Dog for adoption – Old Man Withers, a Cocker Spaniel in Wappingers Falls, NY | Petfinder

Show us your tired, your old, your broken and ailing. We will show you a foster ready to breathe life back into their spirit, a new beginning, and road to recovery. For the pups that do not get a second glance, we are here to be your second chance.

Old Man Wither’s was one of those pups. The only lifeline he had out of the shelter was rescue. At 10 years old this boy was affectionately labeled “medically challenged” by shelter staff. Besides the obvious obstacles of being blind and deaf Old Man Wither’s suffered from terrible ear infections, heart murmur, carpal hyperextension, typical fatty cyst, and teeth that looked like they came out of a horror show. He certainly wasn’t the most “attractive” rescue request due to age and medical status, but he was the most necessary.

A couple months in foster care, and a dental later this boy could not be any more grateful. Although he is officially toothless now that does not stop Old Man Wither’s from enjoying his meals. It is one of his most favorite times of day.

Despite his inability to see and hear this boy gets around pretty well once familiar with the home setup. We do not recommend a home with an excessive amount of stairs as that may be a little too much for him to navigate. You will not meet a happier, more easy going pup than Old Man Withers. He loves everyone including pups, people and feline friends. He loves to be loved, petted and cuddled. You may be aware of his disabilities but he carries through life as though he is one and the same as everyone around him.
