6/9/16  Skye update

Skye had a rare complication following his bilateral ear surgery: his system was affected and his eyes became unfocused, he developed a pronounced head tilt and he didn’t want to eat due to nausea and his sense of balance being impaired.

Skye was put in the Critical Care Unit (CCU) and received round the clock care including IV fluids and antibiotics. After four days, Skye was showing marked improvement and he was moved to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). Thanks to the excellent care Skye received from Dr. John Berg and the wonderful staff in the CCU and ICU at Tufts Foster Hospital for Small Animals eight days after his ear he was well enough to go home with his adored foster mom.

Skye’s total bill was $5,361.73 – twice what we had expected but well worth it. He’s a wonderful happy, tail wagging cocker who no longer has to cope with chronic ear infections and painful ears.

Thanks to the Joey Fund we were able to absorb the extra expense due to Skye’s vestibular complication but without your ongoing generous support, we just could not provide such extraordinarily costly care to sweet, neglected cockers.

Please donate today to the all important Joey Fund! We want to be able to say “yes” to the next cocker in need.  Save the date, October 16th for the Joey Fund Auction.
