CSRNE ADULT COCKERS AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION

Adult = 12 Months & Up

In Loving Memory of MurphySome rescue cockers who may become available for adoption are being evaluated for health and temperament and are not yet on our web site.

BEFORE contacting CSRNE, it is very important for you to read about CSRNE's Adoption Procedures AND Restraint Policy. They will provide you with details on how CSRNE's adoption process works

Some Cockers who will be available for adoption, are waiting for health and temperament evaluations or veterinary procedures and are not yet on the web site. Evaluating a potential home through an application and a home visit is necessary to ensure that the adopters lifestyle and expectations are compatible with the rescue cockers personality and activity level. If you have questions regarding one of the dogs on the web site, please fill out and submit a signed Adoption Questionnaire with the signed Restraint Agreement form and allow us 14 days to respond.

We're Waiting For Our Forever Homes!
Won't you open your hearts and home to one of us?

Buca and Bam Bam These two beautiful cockers are brother and sister from the same litter and were rescued when a dog trainer offered to purchase them from their owner after seeing the incredibly poor condition they were in. They were so severely matted that their skin had been torn in several areas. They also had extremely bad skin and ear infections and in need of some minor surgeries due to their extreme negligence. In spite of these painful medical challenges, they were friendly and happy dogs with wonderful temperaments.

Sadie – Sadie’s mom had to move into an assisted living community and she is no longer able to care for her beloved Sadie. Sadie is now living with her daughter who has three children and a big, lovable male golden retriever.  Sadie likes to play with the children even though they can sometimes be a bit rambunctious. Since day one she has decided that she’s the golden retriever’s boss, which he willingly tolerates.   Read more...

RockyOur wonderful vet loves all our rescue cockers but he was especially enthusiastic when he met Rocky – he thought he was a really nice cocker!
Rocky is only a year and a half old and he’s all puppy. He especially likes pulling on his foster mom’s bathrobe, when she’s in it of course! Rocky is almost housebroken.
Rocky was dirty and matted when he came into rescue but he behaved very well during a long and stressful grooming.  Read more...

BradyIt’s hard to believe that this gorgeous three-year old boy has spent most of his life living in a crate. Brady is now absolutely thrilled to be in a foster home where he’s getting lots of walks and attention. He just loves his walks and is very well behaved on a leash. He is the loving, active, outgoing, “talkative” cocker who knows how to sit, give paw and lay down.  Read more...

Henry This playful four-month old puppy was sold by the pet store as a cockapoo. He's only 15 pounds right now but it's hard to tell how much he'll weigh when he's an adult. He also has his natural tail.
Henry is a typical active, outgoing puppy who likes to chase his ball in a big fenced in yard. He loves the other cockers in his foster home, however they don't seem to appreciate his very energetic puppy play. Read more about Henry on our "available puppy" page...

KeeleyThis little two year old cocker was used as a breeding dog – she’s had a litter of pups ever since she was six months old. She was never brought to a vet and when we rescued Keeley she was in heat again, had skin infection, was filthy and loaded with fleas and had two “cherry eyes” – (prolapsed tear glands). But despite all this Keeley was delighted to meet all the people at the vet hospital. She seemed to know they were going to help her. She very much enjoyed the baths that she received – it was just so wonderful not to feel itchy any more. Read more...

Jake - Jake was found wandering around the stake and chain he had been tied to. He was dirty, hungry, badly matted, and very happy to see the Animal Control Officer (ACO) who rescued him. He was taken to the city shelter where he was groomed, neutered, and given all his shots. Everyone was amazed at what a pretty cocker there was underneath all the dirt and mats.
Jake charmed the shelter staff and he received an A+ on his temperament evaluation. Everyone there agreed he was a “very sweet boy.”   More photos...

Molly – When our volunteer, Linda, picked up Molly on Tuesday, January 27, 2009 she was horrified. All 4 of her legs were encased in cement-hard mats, she couldn’t put any weight on her right front foot and the awful smell was overpowering. It was obvious that Molly was a very sick dog and in a lot of pain. Linda rushed Molly to her vet who said that it was the worse case of neglect that he had ever seen.   As of Feb. 2, 2009 it took 6 days of highly specialized veterinary care and $4,641.14 to save Molly.     Read more...

King - King is only two-years old and big - he weighs about 40 pounds. He is one of the most beautiful, jet-black cockers we have ever seen. His previous owners took him to a city shelter because "he gets into everything." We have discovered that young, healthy cockers given up for that reason are usually not getting anywhere the exercise they need (often they're left in crates all day.) These cockers also require a lot of time positively interacting with their owners and they love the challenge of obedience and/or agility training. He was temperament tested when he was at the city animal shelter and he got all A's! He loves to please people and he would graduate from obedience school at the top of his class.  Read more...

Bailey: Bailey’s owner loves him very much but because of her own health issues she can no longer care for him. She describes four-year old Bailey as affectionate and playful. He loves his favorite toys and always keeps them nearby. He likes to play catch. He enjoys having his ears scratched and especially likes “baby talk.” He is housebroken and crate trained and he currently lives with another dog. Bailey’s vet says that despite his seasonal allergies “he’s an exceptionally nice cocker, adorable.” Bailey has been diagnosed with inhalant allergies but his vet said she’s “seen a lot worse.”  His skin problems occur mostly in summer and fall. Suzie's story: Seven yeaer old Suzie had a rough start in life. She was born in a large noisy puppy mill, taken away from her mother at only five weeks of age, sold to a broker, and finally sold to a large pet store where she was sold to people who never took her to a veterinarian. At only eight months old her owners turned her into a city dog pound. By this point she was timid, fearful, both her eyes and ears were infected and she had a staph infection. Despite all this Suzie did well in foster care – her foster mom said she has a “lovely personality,” she adored the cat and became very attached to another foster cocker. She loved to play with her toys. We felt that she had probably been abused at some point because if a person reached out to pat her she was fearful, would flatten on the floor and would not move. However, she did gradually improve and we placed her in a home with adults and one teenager. Suzie became very attached to the mom but she was fearful of strangers who came to the home and she was not reliably housebroken. After two months Suzie’s adopters returned her to cocker rescue. She adjusted quickly to being back at her foster home. She enjoys routine, structure, and predictability. Read more...

Murphy - A Special Cocker who Needs a Home ASAP!!
Murphy is now in foster care with CSRNE – he’s a happy, healthy, active cocker. Read update 3/15/08  Despite his condition (mega esophagus) he’s really not a special needs dog. He simply needs to eat three small meals a day and his food bowl is elevated on a small stepping stool or bench. His dry kibble food needs to be soaked in water until it’s mushy then pureed in a food processor or blender until creamy. His foster care giver makes up 2-3 days of food at a time. He does not require canned food. Murphy is a small, very adorable cocker with his little round head, short muzzle and compact body. He is housebroken and loves to play outside in the fenced year. He is very fond of his toys and likes to play fetch. Murphy is perfect in a car and loves to go for long rides.Read More, updated 3/15/08

Won't you adopt me?

Joey: This small, very adorable cocker boy was left in his crate and abandoned outside the door of the animal shelter.  The Animal Control Officer found him the next morning huddled in the back of his crate, terrified and shaking.  She took him to her home and soon learned that Joey (aka Jo-Jo) was hand shy and very afraid of men. However, he quickly warms up to women and likes her children.  Read More...

6 year old "Spud Bud" has been in a special training/foster home. His foster mom described him when he came in to CSRNE as constantly on the move, possessive of his toys and food, terrible on a leash and untrustworthy around cats. But Bud is a very smart cocker and as he learned to trust his foster mom, he made rapid progress... Read More...

PLEASE NOTE: Because the rescue cockers are Second Hand Dogs and have not had the benefit of having bonded with their new family since puppy hood and because we usually have no history on whether or not the rescue dogs were socialized around young children, CSRNE has decided that we cannot adopt to families with children under the age of 7 years. We realize that this policy may rule out some homes that would otherwise be wonderful but our first priority must be the safety of children.

Please take time to read CSRNE's Adoption Procedures and about the Restraint Policy. We hope they will answer your questions about how CSRNE's adoption process works.
