CSRNE ADULT COCKERS AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION

Adult = 12 Months & Up

In Loving Memory of MurphySome rescue cockers who may become available for adoption are being evaluated for health and temperament and are not yet on our web site.

BEFORE contacting CSRNE, it is very important for you to read about CSRNE's Adoption Procedures AND Restraint Policy. They will provide you with details on how CSRNE's adoption process works

Some Cockers who will be available for adoption, are waiting for health and temperament evaluations or veterinary procedures and are not yet on the web site. Evaluating a potential home through an application and a home visit is necessary to ensure that the adopters lifestyle and expectations are compatible with the rescue cockers personality and activity level. If you have questions regarding one of the dogs on the web site, please fill out and submit a signed Adoption Questionnaire with the signed Restraint Agreement form and allow us 14 days to respond.

We're Waiting For Our Forever Homes!
Won't you open your hearts and home to one of us?

Abby: This adorable year and a half old cocker was named "Wiggles" by the shelter staff because she just never stoppped wiggling - they said she was the happiest little cocker they had ever seen. ( Her foster mom thought she looked like an "Abby" and our foster parents have naming rights!)   Read more...

LemSorry, this Cocker is happpy in their forever home!it (the cocker) and Budget (the beagle): Like so many dogs this spring, Lemit and Budget were given up to the local humane society because their owner could no longer afford to care for them. The shelter has asked us if we can also help to find them a home. Lemit (the cocker) and Budget (the beagle) are a truly bonded pair – they’ve lived together for ten years and need to be placed together. The shelter manager said they are both “lovely, easy going, sweet, healthy dogs.”  Read More...

Tasha: This very pretty six year old black and tan girl needs a new home because her recently widowed owner is moving into-pets housing.  Tasha is a quiet, reserved cocker who was very close to the husband.  She's timid with strangers and it takes a few visits before she warms up to people.  Her vet describes her as "a nice little dog" with an "excellent temperament".   Read More...

   Princess:

This utterly sweet little 8 year old cocker girl was hit by a car on February 3rd and suffered a fractured jaw and lacerations in her mouth.  Th Animal Control Officer called us immediately and we rushed her to veterinary specialist who was able to get her right into surgery and repaired the damage.  Princess tolerated the surgery well and by the next day, she was wagging her tail at all the vet techs and eating her gruel.  Our vet was very impressed with her temperament and pronounced her a "very sweet dog".  Read more...

Lucky: This 4 ½ year old boy has received a five star rating from both the animal control officer who picked him up and his foster mom who says ”He is wonderful with people.”  Lucky just loves to be outside in a big front yard – he is very interested in the squirrels and birds at the feeder and probably would not do well in a home with kitties.  Read More...

Sorry, this Cocker is happpy in their forever home! Darcy: This petite 1 1/2 year old Cocker miss was probably on the city streets because both her ears are badly infected which has resulted in calcification of the ear canals. Darcy is scheduled for surgery February 4, 2008 and will have both ear canals removed. Despite her obvious discomfort, she is a terrific little cocker and is enjoying the companionship of her foster mom and other rescue cockers  Read More - updated 3/19/08

Duchess: Duchess and her cocker buddy, Duke, lived alone in a shed for over 3 years with no vet or grooming care and almost no human companionship.  When we rescued them in May 2007, they were in deplorable condition--filthy, covered with ticks and could barely stand due to the tangle of fur and mats all over their body.  But despite this misery, those dogs never lost their friendly temperments and their stumpy tails have wagged non-stop ever since.   Read More...

Shorty: Absolutely everyone who has met Shorty has fallen in love with him!  The shelter manager, the foster Mom, and our vet all agree, he is a sweet, affectionate, "honey bun"; despite the fact that he has endured significant pain and discomfort for well over a year.  Shorty was diagonosed with glaucoma in his left eye.  His previous owner never treated him for this painful condition and now his eye is inflamed and bulging.  Read More...

Niki: It's hard to believe that this perky, happy girl is 9 years old.  She's a "teeny beany" weighing only 20 pounds.  She's loaded with personality.  Her previous owner loved her very much but she could no longer care for Nicki because of her own disability  Read More...

Murphy - A Special Cocker who Needs a Home ASAP!!
Murphy is now in foster care with CSRNE – he’s a happy, healthy, active cocker. Read update 3/15/08  Despite his condition (mega esophagus) he’s really not a special needs dog. He simply needs to eat three small meals a day and his food bowl is elevated on a small stepping stool or bench. His dry kibble food needs to be soaked in water until it’s mushy then pureed in a food processor or blender until creamy. His foster care giver makes up 2-3 days of food at a time. He does not require canned food. Murphy is a small, very adorable cocker with his little round head, short muzzle and compact body. He is housebroken and loves to play outside in the fenced year. He is very fond of his toys and likes to play fetch. Murphy is perfect in a car and loves to go for long rides.Read More, updated 3/15/08

Toby is a big, classically handsome cocker spaniel. The  volunteers call him “Goofy” because he loves to stretch out full length in the “froggy-dog” position on grass and even  snow. Joey: This small, very adorable cocker boy was left in his crate and abandoned outside the door of the animal shelter.  The Animal Control Officer found him the next morning huddled in the back of his crate, terrified and shaking.  She took him to her home and soon learned that Joey (aka Jo-Jo) was hand shy and very afraid of men. Toby is very smart 2-year-old cocker is a classic example of what happens when a dog is left alone in one room for much of the time and is not a real part of family life. When Chauncey came into Cocker Rescue, he was in deplorable condition. He was very thin, infested with hookworms and so severely matted that he could barely walk. As you can see, underneath all of this is a very beautiful 5 year old cocker. While Chauncey was recuperating at the kennel, he was affectionate and playful with his caregivers however, when he was adopted into a home it became apparent that he had been abused by men and teenage boys.  Read More...

PLEASE NOTE: Because the rescue cockers are Second Hand Dogs and have not had the benefit of having bonded with their new family since puppy hood and because we usually have no history on whether or not the rescue dogs were socialized around young children, CSRNE has decided that we cannot adopt to families with children under the age of 7 years. We realize that this policy may rule out some homes that would otherwise be wonderful but our first priority must be the safety of children.

Please take time to read CSRNE's Adoption Procedures and about the Restraint Policy. We hope they will answer your questions about how CSRNE's adoption process works.
