CSRNE PUPPY COCKERS AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION

Puppy = Under 12 Months

In Memory of FreemontBEFORE contacting CSRNE, it is very important for you to read about CSRNE's Adoption Procedures AND Restraint Policy. They will provide you with details on how CSRNE's adoption process works

Some Cockers who will be available for adoption, are waiting for health and temperament evaluations or veterinary procedures and are not yet on the web site. Evaluating a potential home through an application and a home visit is necessary to ensure that the adopters lifestyle and expectations are compatible with the rescue cockers personality and activity level. If you have questions regarding one of the dogs on the web site, please fill out and submit a signed Adoption Agreement with the signed Restraint Agreemnt form and allow us 14 days to respond.

CSRNE does not adopt to families with children under the age of 7 years.

Before calling or completing an adoption questionnaire
for a cocker puppy,  please be sure that you
meet the following qualifications:

CSRNE Puppy Adoption Considerations:

Is an adult home most of the day?

Are you willing to housebreak him and teach him house manners

Are you willing to "puppy-proof" your house and endure chew marks on your favorite leather loafers should a slip-up occur?

Are you willing to spend some sleepless nights until the pup is acclimated to his new surroundings?

Are you willing to socialize your pup to other dogs and people and take him to Puppy Kindergarten and at least Level One Obedience training?

Do you have a safe, fenced area where the pup can play with you?

Do you have LOTS of patience, understanding, energy and a good sense of humor?

Beautiful Mom, Jenna

This mother cocker and her pups got off to a very rough start in life. Jenna (the mother) and an adult male cocker were left outside day and night in a ramshackle pen with no shade or water. When the neighbors complained about the barking, the owner put the 2 dogs in his basement and they were never again let outside or allowed in the house.  Jenna got pregnant and gave birth to her pups in the filthy, dark basement where they remained for 6 months until one of the neighbors became aware of the situation and persuaded the owner to give him all the dogs and then called the Animal Control Officer who immediately called us.

Jenna and the 3 male pups arrived at our foster home frightened and anxious but they soon discovered the absolute joy of running free in the big fenced yard and were reassured by quiet, calm voices and lots of cuddling.

It's taken some time but they have settled down and are now able to focus on some basic obedience training.  All of them were recently spayed and neutered and got all their vaccines.

These beautiful, healthy cockers need owners willing to housebreak them, continue their obedience training and provide large fenced yards so they can enjoy their favorite pastime - running and playing in a safe, secure area.

Jenna is a happy two-year-old girl who is affectionate and loves to cuddle and just be with her foster mom.  She is starved for attention and would do better as an only dog who doesn't need to compete for her family's affection. She is not totally housebroken.

Jesse is 8 months old and weighs a whopping 31 pounds - the same weight as his mother. He also has his beautiful, natural cocker tail. Jesse is an active, happy-go-lucky pup. He is learning to walk on a leash and doing well - he is a smart boy who quickly picks up new skills. He is not totally housebroken.

Alex is the smallest of the pups weighing only 21 pounds.  He was the most easily frightened of the group and would drop to the ground and crawl if someone approached him. He now loves to cuddle and will snuggle in as close as he can to his foster mom.  He would do well with another gentle, nurturing dog.  He is not totally housebroken and has his natural tail.

Tucker is 27 pounds and cute as a button but he gets very easily excited and spins around and around trying to catch his own tail. Tucker is scheduled to be evaluated by our vet to determine the cause of this behavior. Until he is evaluated he will not be available for adoption.

We're Waiting For Our Forever Homes!

PLEASE NOTE: Because the rescue cockers are Second Hand Dogs and have not had the benefit of having bonded with their new family since puppy hood and because we usually have no history on whether or not the rescue dogs were socialized around young children, CSRNE has decided that we cannot adopt to families with children under the age of 7 years. We realize that this policy may rule out some homes that would otherwise be wonderful but our first priority must be the safety of children.

Please take time to read CSRNE's Adoption Procedures and about the Restraint Policy. We hope they will answer your questions about how CSRNE's adoption process works.
