CSRNE Henry - Happy At Last In Her Forever Home!

"One Of The Magnificent 7"

Male Buff Cocker

Henry

UPDATE:

Henry is doing VERY well with us in his new home; we just adore him. Even though it has been hard not to spoil him, we have worked on commands and obedience . He has settled in to our routine and did very well his first long day left alone. He is not crazy about his crate and we continue to work with him each day on that. He does however like his little bed where he sleeps at night (in the bedroom) He was restless the first night but settled in quite well by night two. Henry has several stuffed toys that he loves to play fetch with around the house. He does not get into things and there has been no damage to anything in the house, even on his first long day alone. We have taken down gates giving him more access to the first floor of the house with good results.

We have had Henry out on several walks around the neighborhood (he is very good on the leash by the way). He does well with other "2-legged" creatures but still needs work on the "4-legged". Henry demonstrated his aggressive side when first introduced to our neighbor's lab. He did much better the second go around.

Henry loves to ride in the car and is a very good passenger. We took Henry on his first road trip after he had been with us for 3 weeks; a four hour car ride to my parents home in Maine. As you can see in one of the pictures, he went with me to gather the sap. He sticks very close to us in new situations.

We feel quite fortunate to have found Henry. Thank you again to all the volunteers that took such good care of him while waiting for his forever home!

Sherry & Frank C.  (now owned by Henry :)

Henry is 2 years old with a small build. He has grown up at Rivendell Respite Care since he arrived as a puppy. He can be timid and fearful when first meeting strangers. After a bond is established, he is an extremely affectionate and charming little guy. Henry needs to be the only dog in the household. He was adopted out and returned several months later when his owner became ill. He went to work daily with her and became friendly with all of her colleagues. For a period of time, in his new home, Henry should work one on one with an obedience instructor. He will need a confident new owner in an adult only home and a relatively structured quiet environment where he is not overwhelmed with lots of activity or strangers coming and going.
