The snow has finally melted here in New
Hampshire and the rescue cockers at North Country Canine have traded
sitting atop 8 foot snow piles for their favorite spring activity –
perching on the well cover! (This good-natured game is their version
of “King of the Hill).
The play yard has just been expanded and that
means new territory to explore. Buddy’s all time favorite activity
is burrowing for lost treasure – which is usually a Milk Bone that
he buried ages ago. For months, Murphy and Niki were fascinated by
Buddy’s enthusiastic digging and they sat and watched him constantly
– often getting a face full of flying dirt which didn’t seem to
bother either of them. But this spring, they’ve decided Buddy is
having all the fun and since he does occasionally find those buried
biscuits they have now joined him in the search! (Murphy has a
special skill all his own – he can walk/run on the treadmill by
balancing on his front paws and while trotting on his rear feet.
Special photos/videotape coming).
Toby finds all of this quite beneath him; he
way to well bred and dignified to stoop to such a dirty occupation.
Toby prefers the quiet life and just wants to hang out with Marc,
his foster dad. He and Chauncey both adore Marc and are content to
follow him everywhere in the hope that Marc will take a break, pick
them up and flip them on their back and scratch their bellies
(Chauncey will even smile on command when he takes his photo).
All the cockers are looking forward to warmer
weather when they can play in the kiddy pool. Buddy obliges everyone
by digging at the fish pattern at the bottom of the pool, thus
creating a lovely spray that cools off all the cockers watching him.
(Photos coming soon).
While it is wonderful that these cockers
waiting for adoption can be in a place where they are so well cared
for, the fact remains, they want and need their forever-home with
their very own special person who will walk them, play with them,
and love them. Toby, Chauncey, Buddy, Niki, and Murphy have not
given up hope that they too will be adopted.
All five of these handsome cockers are listed individually on the "Available
Adult Cockers" page.
