Barney is a
buff, 10 years old boy that was found abandoned, tied to a picnic
bench on the 4th of July. He is deaf and blind. Barney has seen
an Ophthalmologist and she ruled out glaucoma but he does have
severe scarring from dry eye that had gone untreated. Barney is an
easy going boy who just wants to be loved. He sleeps most of the
day but does enjoy going out for walks. How anyone could have
dumped this guy is beyond us but someone did and he ended up at a
city pound. They knew no one would adopt him and they were
prepared to euthanize him because they considered him
un-adoptable.
Barney is a
permanent foster dog and is no trouble at all. Over time, Barney
has developed a cough and x-rays and blood work have ruled out a
heart condition. He was put on a trial of antibiotics but the
cough did not improve. He is now on a bronchial dilator to see if
it will help to relieve his cough since it has increased to a
point where he coughs all night and most of the day leaving him
unable to sleep well, but if not, it is suspected that Barney may
be having a problem with a collapsed trachea and that will have to
be ruled out. Barney has such a loving personality and sweet
disposition that he deserves this chance to be treated and have
the opportunity to be loved forever.
Barney's continued care runs $80.00 per month
and the testing for the collapsed trachea was estimated at
$685.00. We will know in April if we will have to follow through
with continued testing.
